Obituary for Gladys P. Zifcak

Gladys "Betsy" P. (Godin) Zifcak, 81, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019 in Overlook Nursing Home, Pascoag. Married for 58 years and together since high school, she was the wife of Raymond G. Zifcak. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late William and Althea (Ballou) Godin.
Betsy worked for years as a Teacher's Aide at the Austin T. Levy School in Harrisville. After retirement, she spent half the year in sunny Florida and half in her hometown on Pascoag Lake.
While a full-time homemaker raising five kids, Betsy also found time for sports. She played softball on a local women's team and coached daughter Marcia on Rec and All-Star teams. She was an avid golfer, playing in the Worcester County League here and the Wedgefield league down in Florida. She belonged at different times to Raceway Golf Course, Blissful Meadows and Wedgefield in Orlando. She has the most holes-in-one in the family with three.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children: Mark Zifcak, Michael (and wife Elaine) Zifcak, Matthew (and wife Karen) Zifcak, Marcia (and husband Alan) Packett and Monica (and husband Rifat) Murtovic; and four grandsons: Joshua and Timothy Packett and Arton and Diar Murtovic. She was the sister of the late Barbara Harris.
Her funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave. Pascoag. Her ashes will be buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery during a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 183 Sayles Ave., Pascoag, RI 02859
