Obituary for John H. Zifcak

John H. Zifcak Sr., 101 years old, passed away at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence on May 30, 2018 of natural causes. He was the husband of nearly 75 years to the late Hazel (O'Leary) Zifcak and father to John H. Jr. (Gail) of Hanson, MA and the late Gerald R. Zifcak (Paula). He was born in Uxbridge, MA and was the son of the late Philip and Frances (Dlugos) Zifcak.
He was brother of the late Mary, Anna, Sofia, Paul, Philip and Antone Zifcak, Edna Begin and Margaret Gerlach.
He leaves behind sister Madelyn Hopkins (Raymond) of Harrisville, Eleanor Choiniere (Walter) of Pascoag, and brothers: Edward Zifcak of Templeton, MA and Raymond Zifcak (Betsy) of Orlando, FL and Pascoag.
He leaves four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was an officer and Deputy State Fire Marshal for the Rhode Island State Police for 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1966. He also worked for Factory Mutual Laboratory in Glocester. An accomplished carpenter, he built eight homes in Burrillville, four of which were built for his family. His wife Hazel was his most important partner in the construction of these homes.
The family wishes to thank Suzanne Pelligrino and her staff of caregivers for their dedication to the care of John and previously his wife Hazel during their last years with us.
Visitation and Memorial Service will be held at Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave, Pascoag on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 10 AM. Flowers are kindly omitted.
